The Project Group for Future Risks and Climate Crisis of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), led by the European Court of Auditors and the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of the United Kingdom, held an online meeting on June 14, attended by Nikola Stefanović, Certified State Auditor..
During the meeting, current projects related to the monitoring of climate expenditures were presented. Thus, the representatives of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) presented a special report entitled "Expenditure of funds in the field of climate within the Budget of the European Union for 2014-2020". The goal of theECA recommendations is to improve climate reporting and link the EU's budget contribution to climate and energy goals.
The SAI of Germany held a presentation "Climate monitoring - transparency of the impact of budget flows on the climate", along with the SAI of Austria which presented "Monitoring expenditures for climate protection and adaptation to climate change in Austria", while the SAI of Lithuania presented a report "Assessment of air monitoring systems".
The Project Group provides a platform for the networking of SAIs related to climate change audits, facilitates the exchange of audit approaches and experiences and supports the methodological development of SAIs members of the EUROSAI.
