Auditors Participate in Trainings to Assess the Risk of Possible Fraudulent Activities

A number of the employees of the State Audit Institution participated in trainings on risk assessment of possible fraudulent activities from 15th to 17thand from 21st to 23rd June 2021 in Belgrade.

The training was delivered by Steve Lord, a consultant on the USAID Government Accountability Initiative (GAI) and a former senior executive in the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). The trainings were held in order to support the further development of capacities regarding risk assessment of fraud delivered to auditors of the State Audit Institution.

The aim of the trainings is to improve the knowledge of auditors in the field of fraud risk management, which will enable them to formulate more useful and meaningful findings and recommendations in audit reports, as well as to strengthen internal controls system in publicly funded programs.

During the trainings, the following was discussed: definitions of fraud, assessment and management of fraud risks - principles and techniques in auditing, case studies of fraud risk management, use of data analysis to detect potential fraud, as well as analysis of possible fraud in the field of public procurement.
