Supreme State Auditor, Ms Stojanka Milovanović, participated in the regional conference "Regulations are being improved, corruption remains the number one problem", held on June 21st and 22nd in Fruška Gora, on the topic "State of affairs of the public procurement system from the perspective of the State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia". The two-day conference was dedicated to the state of affairs of the public procurement system in the Western Balkans.
The participants of the meeting considered current topics in the anti-corruption system in public procurements, and they discussed certain key weaknesses in the manner of awarding public procurement contracts, potential solutions for improving the situation, as well as future challenges in the joint cooperation of competent institutions regarding actions and prevention of corruption.
The conference was organized by the Open Society Foundation of Serbia, as part of the implementation of the "Balkan Tender Watch" Project, which deals with fight against corruption in public procurement. The Project brings together civil society organizations from the Western Balkans that focus on fight against corruption in public procurement at the national and local level.
The event was attended by representatives of civil society organizations from the countries of the Western Balkans, supreme audit institutions, state institutions responsible for public procurement, as well as representatives of the "Balkan Tender Watch" Project.
