Today, the State Audit Institution submitted final audit reports on 2014 financial statements and compliance audit to the Serbian Progressive Party, Social Party of Serbia and Democratic Party.
Qualified opinions were expressed in respect to Socialist Party of Serbia and Democratic Party, while positive opinion was expressed in respect of the Serbian Progressive Party.
Audit included financial statements of these political parties for 2014, which were submitted to the Business Registers Agency, as well as compliance audit also for the same year.
Findings in the audit reports were based solely on official records of the political parties, documents presented to the auditors, said Mr. Radoslav Sretenović, Auditor General. He added that auditors also used evidence and data base of the Ministry of Finance, National Bank of Serbia, commercial banks, debtors and creditors, as well as data from the current local government audit implemented by the Institution.
Audit conducted in respect of political parties is very important for their financial discipline. Audit will contribute to more efficient financial management and disposal of parties' financial assets, Mr. Sretenovic highlighted.
State Audit institution commenced audit at the same time in all three political parties in June this year. In mid October, the Institution first submitted to the parties draft audit reports, while proposal of audit reports were submitted to them in mid November.
Audit process, assessment of gathered evidence and expression of audit opinions were conducted by applying the same methodology and same principles, and form and structure of the reports are uniform for all three political parties.
Audit process for all three political parties has been conducted in compliance with the Law on the State Audit Institution and International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI).
